The EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) published notification 2026.5553 on 23 June 2026 about the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Brie cheeses. The notification was submitted by Ireland and the risk is classified as potentially serious.

Affected are Brie cheeses in 160 g, 170 g, 1 kg, 3 kg and 3,2 kg packs, as well as a chilled product with lot code 00000BFBP1 and best-before date 22.09.2026. Origin is France, Italy and Switzerland.

The products were distributed to a number of countries, including Croatia, where the alert is also for follow-up. Ireland's Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued a public warning and called for a recall from consumers, and similar measures were taken in Belgium, Romania, Norway and Switzerland.

Consumers should not eat the affected products and should return them to the shop where they were bought or contact the supplier for more information.
