The EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), notification 2026.5127, validated on 10 June 2026 an alert about a cast iron pan (Gusseisenpfanne // Cast iron pan) from Canada, shipped via the Netherlands. The notification was made by Austria.

Official controls found migration of heavy metals from the pan: arsenic 0.0146 ± 0.00146 mg/l, iron 196 ± 19.6 mg/l and manganese 0.842 ± 0.0842 mg/l. The risk is considered serious.

The product was distributed to Croatia, which is also asked to follow up on the case; a recall from consumers was carried out in Croatia. Withdrawals from the market, consumer recalls and public warnings were also taken in a number of other EU countries.

Consumers should not use this pan. For further information contact the competent national authorities (hapih.hr in Croatia).
