Organic Brown Basmati Rice 1.0 kg plastic bag

The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.4983 on 5 June 2026 concerning ethylene oxide in organic brown basmati rice of Pakistani origin, packed in a 1.0 kg plastic bag.

The sample contained 0.11 ± 0.03 mg/kg of ethylene oxide against a maximum permitted level of 0.02 mg/kg. The risk is classified as serious and the sample was taken on 5 May 2026.

The product was distributed to Belgium, Croatia, France, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom. Malta has carried out seizure and a consumer recall, and Croatia has carried out a consumer recall. The alert was notified by Malta.
