The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.9004 on 9 October 2026 concerning the withdrawal from the market of cherry tomatoes originating in Italy. The product is sold loose in crates (sfuso in cassette) and stored at ambient temperature.

The sample was taken on 15 September 2026 and analysis showed the presence of monophasic Salmonella Typhimurium, whereas the maximum permitted level is absence. The risk is considered serious and the measure taken is a withdrawal from the market by Italy.

The product was distributed to Croatia, Italy and Slovenia; Croatia and Slovenia are responsible for follow-up. The alert was based on the company's own check and was notified by Italy.
