The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.8348 on 21 September 2026, notified by Croatia. It concerns thawed swordfish fillet in vacuum packaging, origin Spain, labelling ES12.021643/BCE, FAO area 34, stored chilled.

The sample, taken on 3 September 2026, showed a mercury content of 1.7 mg/kg against a maximum permitted level of 1 mg/kg. The classification is an information notification for attention and the risk decision is serious.
