The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.8216 on 16 September 2026 concerning organic ground ribwort plantain from Poland, processed in Germany. It is an information notification for follow-up with a potential risk.

The sample contained a sum of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons of 117 µg/kg (± 35 µg/kg) against a maximum permitted level of 50.0 µg/kg. On that basis there is reason to believe the product should be considered unsafe within the meaning of Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002. The affected lot (Charge) is 44302, best-by 15.01.2027.

Germany has withdrawn the product from the market and informed the authorities. It was distributed to Austria, Croatia, Ireland, Latvia, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, with Croatia designated for follow-up. The finding was based on the company's own check.
