Adios Tracker
What to do with a recalled product
You have a product that was recalled? Check the barcode, batch and date, stop using it, return it to the shop and know when to see a doctor. A short guide by Adios.
-
Compare the details
Look for the product name, package size, barcode (EAN, the number under the bars), batch (LOT, often printed near the date) and the best-before or use-by date. Only products with exactly the details in the notice are affected.
-
Stop using it
Do not eat, drink or use the product, and do not give it to children or pets. Keep it apart from other food until you return it.
-
Return it
Take it back to the shop where you bought it. Shops usually take back recalled products and refund them; if you have no receipt, ask in the shop or contact the company named in the notice.
-
If you already ate or used it
Without symptoms you usually need to do nothing. If symptoms appear (for example fever, diarrhoea or vomiting after food recalled for Listeria or Salmonella, or an allergic reaction), see a doctor and say you had a recalled product. Listeria is especially dangerous for pregnant women, babies, older people and people with weak immunity. In an emergency call 112.
-
Allergies only
When a product is recalled only because an allergen is not declared, people who are not allergic to it can usually keep using it, as the notice will say.
-
Report an unsafe product
If you think a product on sale is unsafe, report it to the State Inspectorate of the Republic of Croatia.
