The Croatian State Inspectorate informs consumers about the recall of the product Svježa skuša (fresh mackerel) originating from Spain, LOT FB23119594, use by 11.05.2023., fishing zone FAO 27.VIIIc, North-East Atlantic, Bay of Spain – south, due to the confirmed presence of the parasite Anisakis spp.

The product does not comply with Regulation 178/2002 and Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 laying down hygiene rules for food of animal origin.

Proper thermal processing of the product (cooking, baking or freezing) inactivates the parasite, so it does not pose a risk to human health; exceptionally, an allergic reaction to parts of the parasite may occur in persons with an allergy to molluscs.
