The EU Safety Gate rapid alert system (reference SR/02118/26) has published a recall for the Kia Niro EV passenger car, origin Republic of Korea. The alert was notified by Belgium, and the product was found on the market in Croatia by its authorities (as well as in Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg, Sweden and Slovenia).

Due to insufficient detection capability in the Battery Management System, micro-shorts between battery cells may remain undetected. Undetected micro-shorts could cause the cells to overheat and lead to a fire while the vehicle is parked or charging. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers.

Vehicles produced from 19.05.2020 to 18.03.2022 (barcode 261261) are affected. Measure: voluntary product recall from consumers carried out by the importer. For more information, contact the importer.
