The EU Safety Gate published alert SR/02418/26 on 3 September 2026 concerning the passenger car Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class (model e1*2007/46*1885*18-*28, H1GLE), found on the market in Croatia by its authorities. The alert was notified by Germany, and the product was also found by the authorities of Greece, Hungary, Ireland and Sweden.

In certain GLE series vehicles (model series 167) with OM654 and hybrid engines, a shielding plate in the bulkhead area may not have been fitted according to specifications. As a result, the fuel line could rub against the shielding plate and become damaged, causing a fuel leak. This may lead to a drop in fuel pressure and a loss of propulsion without warning, increasing the risk of an accident.

The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers. The manufacturer launched a voluntary product recall from consumers on 28 August 2026. More information is available from Mercedes-Benz's recall pages.
