The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.5011 on 8 June 2026, notified by Croatia. It concerns organic flax seeds of Kazakh origin, 300 g pack, LOT L25343S0425, best before end of 12.2026.

The sample contained 213 mg/kg of hydrocyanic acid (cyanide), exceeding the maximum level of 150 mg/kg set by Regulation (EU) 2023/915 on contaminants in food. The risk is considered serious. The sample was taken on 19 May 2026 during official control on the market.

The product was distributed to Austria and Croatia. In Croatia a recall from consumers and a public warning (press release) were taken. Consumers can find more information on the Croatian Food Agency website (hapih.hr).
