The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.5020 on 8 June 2026 concerning an elevated level of hydrocyanic acid (cyanide) in linseed. The sampled product (product code 4751, 400 g pack, best before 20/06/2027) contained 228 ± 50 mg/kg against a maximum permitted level of 150 mg/kg. The sample was taken on 21 May 2026.

The alert was notified by Malta and the product was distributed to 16 EU member states, including Croatia, where a recall from consumers was carried out. The risk is classified as potentially serious.

Consumers should not use the product and should return it to the shop where it was bought or dispose of it. Further information is available from the Croatian inspectorate (hapih.hr).
