The EU RASFF system published notification 2026.3393 on 21 April 2026 as a border rejection concerning a consignment of green tea originating in China, notified by Croatia.

The consignment contained 399.4 µg/kg of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (natural toxins) against a maximum permitted level of 200 µg/kg. The sample was taken on 20 February 2026.

The consignment was detained at border control and the measure taken in Croatia is destruction. The product was not released onto the market; it is allowed to travel to its destination under customs seals. Serbia is responsible for follow-up, while China, Greece and Serbia are named for attention.
