The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.6451 on 21 July 2026, a border rejection notification concerning a consignment of melamine trays originating from India.
Border controls found formaldehyde at 53.11 ± 2.66 mg/kg against a maximum of 15 mg/kg, and overall migration at 59.48 ± 16.65 mg/dm² against a maximum of 10 mg/dm². The organoleptic characteristics were also unsuitable (paint peeling). Samples were taken on 29 May 2026.
The notification was made by Croatia and a company in Croatia is involved. There was no distribution from the notifying country; the measure taken was destruction of the consignment.
