The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.3905 on 4 May 2026 concerning excessively high nickel content in pecan nuts. It is an information notification for follow-up, and the risk is not considered serious.

The sample was taken on 9 April 2026 and analysis showed 5,58 mg/kg nickel against a maximum permitted level of 3,5 mg/kg. The finding was based on the company's own check.

The product originates from Belgium and Denmark and was distributed to a number of countries, including Croatia. Belgium, Luxembourg and Norway have taken withdrawal or detention measures. The notification concerns Croatia for follow-up and attention.
