The EU Safety Gate system published alert SR/02364/26 on 26 August 2026 concerning the withdrawal from the market of the QUECHUA children's rain jacket, model Jacket MH500 TW (model 4434399, barcode 3608439290329), size 8-9 years, 131-140 cm. The alert was notified by Luxembourg, and the product was found on the market in Croatia by its authorities.

The outer fabric of the jacket contains C9-C14 perfluorocarboxylic acid related compounds (PFCAs), measured value 1394 µg/kg, as well as an excessive quantity of perfluorooctanoic-acid-related compounds (PFOAs), measured value 1210 µg/kg. These substances bio-accumulate in wildlife and humans, and PFOAs are carcinogenic and pose a risk to human health and the environment. The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulation nor of the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP) Regulation.

A compulsory withdrawal of the product from the market has been ordered from 8 December 2025. The country of origin is Bangladesh. Consumers should stop using this jacket.
