The EU Safety Gate system (reference SR/02526/26) has published a recall for the BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR motorcycle, found on the market in Croatia by its authorities. The manufacturer launched the voluntary recall from consumers on 20 August 2026.

The vibration level of the motorcycle may cause an internal component of the ignition lock to wear prematurely, leading to sporadic loss of electrical contact. The ignition may then be interrupted either at a standstill or while riding, which could cause the engine to stall and lead to loss of the display cluster, rear light, indicators and electrically powered assistance systems such as ABS, increasing the risk of an accident.

The models listed are e1*168/2013*00378*, e1*168/2013*00091*, e1*168/2013*00092* and e1*168/2013*00377*, built between 15 January 2019 and 10 July 2026. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles.

The product was also found by the authorities of Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Luxembourg and Slovenia. For more information, contact BMW Motorrad.
