The EU Safety Gate system has published a recall (reference SR/02201/26) for Btwin electric scooters models MD500E and SD500E, notified by France. The product was found on the market in Croatia by its authorities, and was also found in Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Intensive use may lead to the formation of a crack at the junction of the frame and the stem. This defect could cause this junction to break, resulting in a risk of the user falling, leading to injuries. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive.

The manufacturer voluntarily withdrew the product from the market and recalled it from consumers from 29 June 2026. The affected batches are 3608391173227, 3608391661410, 3608391671181 and 3608392200106. The product was also sold online, among others by the seller Decathlon.
