Whole cloves

The European Commission validated RASFF notification 2026.6274 on 14 July 2026 concerning anthraquinone, a pesticide residue, in whole cloves originating from Madagascar. Samples taken on 3 and 23 June 2026 showed 0.063 and 0.059 mg/kg respectively, against a maximum permitted level of 0.02 mg/kg.

The notification was submitted by Germany and is classified as an alert notification with a potentially serious risk. The cloves were distributed to Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Monaco and the United Kingdom.
