Croatia's Ministry of Agriculture informs consumers about a voluntary recall of Hill's Prescription Diet Canine z/d 12x370g cans, SKU Number: 8018T, LOT: 102020T172 and Hill's Science Plan Mature Adult Active Longevity Chicken 12x370g cans, SKU Number: 8055U, LOT: 102020T142. The recall is carried out by Hill's Pet Nutrition on its own decision because of potentially elevated levels of vitamin D in the products concerned.
Vitamin D is an essential nutrient for dogs, but oral intake of elevated levels can lead to health problems depending on the level and the length of time the food is fed. Dogs may show vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, increased salivation and weight loss, and in serious cases elevated vitamin D can result in health problems including impaired kidney function.
DDL Zagreb d.o.o., the authorised importer and distributor of HILL's products for Croatia, did not sell or distribute the recalled canned dog food on the Croatian market. Owners who may have purchased the listed batches (online sales) are advised to stop feeding the products to their dogs.
For further information please contact the manufacturer Hill's Pet Nutrition in Topeka, Kansas (EU approval # KS-PF0-0004) or the importer and distributor for Croatia, DDL Zagreb d.o.o., at +385 1 3017 011. Further information is available at www.hillspet.com/productlist.
